COMMERCIAL - The proud project - Pilates studio fit out - W4
Existing floor plan.
Proposed floor plan.
This project was a full interior fit out for a new Pilates studio on Chiswick High Road, designed to be the initial building block for what the client hoped and planned to be a chain of Pilates studios and wider brand.
I was involved in the early stages of the project, beginning with an existing site survey and continuing through to concept design, planning support and the production of the tender package. This project included interesting branding packages which were important for the design overall.
RESIDENTIAL - White Oaks - Huge extension of the property to the rear and also a conversion of the loft, altering the existing roof
The client at White Oaks requested a large extension to the rear of the property to square off the existing footprint and an extension upwards, reconfiguring the roof including a loft conversion.
The roof was redesigned from a cross-gable to an envelope roof, reducing its impact from street level and maintaining the existing roofline in keeping with the rest of the street. We added a front porch and vertical glazing up the stairwell, bringing light into each level.
Mind the gap.
RESIDENTIAL - 35 Pilgrims Way - Loft conversion + interior redesign to allow for a first floor bathroom.
This property overlooks a beautiful downs space in Tunbridge wells. It comprised of a loft conversion and internal reconfiguration to create a new first-floor bathroom and master bedroom.
The design included a rear dormer for headroom and to open the rear of the property to the view overlooking the downs. For this project, as the planning for dormers is sometimes tricky, I created two options for the client, one for the dormer and one for a permitted development application. The proposal for the dormer was accepted.
RESIDENTIAL - Pine Cottage - Permitted development application
This project involved two separate permitted development applications for two extensions at the same time to a home in Woking. The proposal was for a rear sitting room, and a front porch to the North-East elevation.
The two permitted development applications meant that we were able to provide the client with their vision without the hassle of full householder planning.
The proposal added flexibility to the layout, with a large glazed roof light to bring lots of natural light into the new sitting room.

RESIDENTIAL - 20 Cuckoo Lane - Full loft conversion and ground floor reconfiguration
This property belongs to a family in Woking who were preparing for the addition of their grandma moving into the property. The brief was to redesign the ground floor to incorporate a stand-alone annex for Grandma into the original floor plan with an extension to the side for better space. They also wanted a loft conversion for more space for their kids to have their own rooms.
Initially the scheme with three additional dormers was refused, so a complete redesign included reconfiguration of the roof as well.
I reworked both layouts with multiple options to maximise available space while maintaining good flow and light, producing both the existing plans following a site survey and also both sets of final proposed plans and elevations and working options.
The result was a scheme that met the client’s needs effectively while addressing council concerns - a strong example of collaborative design under real- world constraints.
